Conceptual artist, emotional horchatero
Born in Albalat dels Tarongers in 1982, he currently resides in an adapted attic in the Cabanyal neighborhood, surrounded by recycled fishing nets and aloe vera plants. Since childhood, Ximo has shown a curious fascination with the textures of food and the stains they left on his grandmother's tablecloth.
His approach to art began when he tried to make a portrait of his cat with 'cremaet' and ended up selling it on Wallapop to a Norwegian collector. Since then, Ximo has dedicated himself to what he calls "visceral proximity art", using only materials collected from local markets: dried horchata, candied orange peel, squid ink, and recycled fallas.
At an opening, his installation titled "Silence of wet fartó" was mistaken for the snack from the catering, and several attendees ended up chewing on his main piece. Ximo considered it 'the culmination of the multisensory experience he was aiming for.
Ximo says that everything he does is based on three pillars: 'the smell of gunpowder, baked rice, and the memory of things that are no longer done.'
